No. A few distinct letters can guide the style. AI attempts the other characters in your selected set, but it may change the shapes you supplied. Inspect the result before using it; MakeFont does not promise an exact copy of your handwriting.

Use a clear PNG, JPG, or WEBP image up to 20 MB. An evenly lit, plain background and several visible letters with uncropped strokes make the style easier to judge. The image guides the MakeFont AI font generator; it is not copied character by character into the font.

Yes. A font description can be submitted without an image. The MakeFont AI font generator creates character sheets for the selected supported language, traces them locally, and attempts to build a preview. Inspect the generated glyphs and repair any failures before using the font.

A Free account receives 50 lifetime credits at registration and includes TTF downloads. Automatic language detection costs 1 credit; a font creation task reserves 20 credits and keeps them after successful glyph correction. See Pricing for current costs and plan details.

Selecting an image does not upload it. A guest draft stays in browser storage through sign-in. When you submit while signed in, MakeFont sends your description and a compressed reference, if supplied, for AI processing. The original image, generated sheets, glyph editing, and font build remain in browser storage; see Privacy for service-provider details.

Yes. The local Font Profile supports glyph repair, bounds and baseline adjustments, drawing, erasing, transforms, undo, and redo. Rebuild after an edit so the downloaded TTF reflects the latest glyph revision.

Yes. Once the required glyphs are complete and the local build succeeds, download the validated TTF. You can use it in applications that accept installed TTF fonts; test the downloaded file in your intended application because the browser preview alone cannot verify that result. WOFF2 is used for the local preview.

An incomplete reference is fine, but a missing result is different. AI attempts the selected set; if a required generated glyph has no usable outline, the current TTF build cannot finish. Inspect the failed character in your Font Profile and repair it locally. Generated shapes also need a visual check, even when the build succeeds.

MakeFont holds 20 credits for a creation task. If generation, review, or glyph correction fails, times out, or is cancelled, the hold is released. The AI font generator does not retry automatically; you can explicitly retry a failed generation from your local project. Once glyph correction succeeds, the 20 credits are kept even if you dislike the design or a later local font build needs repair. Local edits, rebuilds, and downloads do not add a generation charge.

MakeFont runs AI generation and local glyph processing in stages. Time depends on the selected character set, model response, browser, and any manual glyph repair. The current workflow has no verified completion-time range, so keep the project open and follow its progress rather than relying on a fixed estimate.

Your original image, generated sheets, and local edits live in this browser. Clearing its site data or changing devices can remove access to that local work. An explicitly synchronized Profile can retain derived artifacts in your account, but it is not a full backup of the original or generated sheets. Keep a copy of the downloaded TTF you want to use.

New projects support defined Latin-character sets for English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese. Selecting one does not imply support for every character or writing system used in that language.

MakeFont makes no blanket commercial-use promise in V1. You must have the rights to any reference material and assess your intended use. MakeFont does not claim a result is original, exclusive, copyrightable, or eligible for trademark registration.
