Keep descenders visible
Letters such as g, j, p, q, and y show how strokes extend below the writing line.

After tracing, the browser attempts a preview build. If any required glyph lacks an outline, repair it before downloading the TTF.

How does MakeFont use my handwriting?
Your handwriting image is an optional style reference. AI attempts to generate the selected character set, including letters missing from your sample. The results may differ from your actual handwriting, so review each glyph.
Can I create a handwriting font from only a description?
Yes. Describe the handwriting style without attaching an image, then review and repair the generated letterforms.
What image can I attach?
Use a PNG, JPG, or WEBP file up to 20 MB. Clear strokes and consistent lighting make the style easier to review.
Will the original image be uploaded?
No upload occurs when you select a file. Once you sign in and submit, a compressed reference and any description are sent for AI processing. The original remains in browser storage.
Can I edit the generated handwriting?
Yes. The local Font Profile lets you repair outlines, adjust bounds and baselines, draw, erase, transform, undo, and redo.
What file can I download?
Download a TTF when every required character has an outline and the local build succeeds. WOFF2 supports the local preview.
Can AI fill letters I did not write?
Yes. A partial handwriting sample can guide AI generation of the selected character set. If generation or tracing leaves a required outline missing, the Font Profile surfaces that failure for local review or repair. A TTF build requires an outline for every required character.

Which languages are supported?
New projects support defined Latin-character sets for English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese.
Can I sell a generated font?
MakeFont makes no blanket commercial-use promise. Use reference material you have rights to, and assess the intended downstream use.
